Sciacca, Sicily after we take a break from eating our gelato on a sweet bun or, “Brioche al Gelato,” Peppe  smokes while the rest of us look out onto the sea.  In Sicily, lavender is a top-selling flavor of gelato.

Anders Thorsvik, my grandfather, loved ice cream.  When asked if he like it he always responded “the best I ever had” with a big grin.  Anders was a proud tugboat sailor in Norway and in Baltimore, MD.  Everyone in Baltimore knew him as “Norwegian Andy.”  I found this archived Black & White photograph I shot a few years ago and thought I’d share what made me smile today.

Ocean City, Maryland.  The last weekend before tourists hit the beach, everything is closed and quiet.

Spring is finally here!  Below is a photograph of a large ant colony outside on a sidewalk.  Worker ants live for up to seven years and the queens of some species living more than 25 years.  Mating season, and when ant colonies are at their height, is usually from June to August.  However, this photo was taken yesterday, so I am not sure what they are doing?  If you know, please feel free to comment.

Beautiful and fun, Kristen Rosso Milito is almost a new mom!  Kristen and her husband will welcome their baby girl, Isabella, in just a few weeks.  We did a quick photo shoot in Severna Park, MD and will squeeze in a few more family shots before the birth.  I am so excited to meet their new edition.  Best of luck with everything Kristen and family!
