Break: Sicilian Style

Sciacca, Sicily after we take a break from eating our gelato on a sweet bun or, “Brioche al Gelato,” Peppe  smokes while the rest of us look out onto the sea.  In Sicily, lavender is a top-selling flavor of gelato.

Carnevale

Carnevale, also known as carnival or mardi gras, is celebrated in Italy and many places around the world 40 days before Easter.  Here, in Sciacca, Italy a giant float bursting with color and humor squeezes through narrow town streets.

Forza Roma

Rome, Italy.  Black & White street scene.  The photograph, to me, keeps moving.  It’s cold, but people are on the go.  It’s not sunny, but umbrellas are up.  It’s winter, but flower pots are out.  Forza Roma!

Hinh!!

Black & White tag in Rome, Italy.  I particularly like the faint dripping stains coming from the window above and the overall rawness I feel from the image as a whole.
