DeFever 46

Over the years some of the joy I get from shooting photos is actually seeing pictures used in print publications (print is not dead!)  Below are 2 spreads from PassageMaker Magazine for a story on the DeFever 46 by Robert M. Lane in the November/December 2011 Issue.  These images were shot in Anacortes, WA.

Painted Skulls and Rusty Pipe

Maryland Avenue off of State Circle in Annapolis, MD boasts many art galleries, antique shops, a record store (yes vinyl), hot yoga studio… you get the picture.  So its no surprise to find some painted skulls hiding on the side of a mailbox – which I think go perfectly well with a rusty pipe.

Last Days Of Summer

This photo reminds me of a good, hot, flower-filled Maryland Summer.  Image taken at Deep Creek Lake somewhere on a mountain in Garrett County, MD.  The bugs were swarming about, no traffic on the street, and below:  miles and miles of trees and water.  I highly recommend a visit there for camping in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Panoramas Round One

My first attempts at creating panoramas… clearly we see where this is headed:  into a spiral of creativity and photo safaris so we can make more!  If anyone has any tips on how to make these better please share.  One is a panorama of Horn Point Marina in Annapolis, MD the other is a sweeping view of Cape Sante Boat Haven in Anacortes, WA.

Eastport Storm

A storm rolled through yesterday…

Butler’s Wharf Path

Butler’s Wharf, London.  Completed in 1873, Butler’s Wharf was once the largest warehouse complex on the Thames. It is now home to a design museum, luxury apartments, and restaurants.  This photograph, with its long pathway and vibrant colors, makes me want to jump right in and walk around.

Gas Station Beetle

According to encyclopedia.com there are more than 300,000 types of beetles.  This colorful guy was found hanging out at a gas station in New Mexico.  They are found everywhere except in oceans.

Avocado Tsunami

Delicious, filling, and vegetarian – my favorite type of sushi.  Photographed on location at Tsunami in Annapolis, MD.  Their website says the ambiance is “dark and sexy.”  I recommend you check it out and try a cocktail at the hip bar as well – delicious!

Palm Frond

A palm frond section shot from above in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  There are over 2,500 species of palm trees.

Paris’ Inside Out Building

The inside-out Pompidou Center in Paris, by Rogers and Renzo Piano, was completed in 1977.

Gerflos

Spain:  A red iron door with ‘gerflos’ and logo among glass block.
