Into The Fog

It was so foggy this morning schools had a delayed opening here in Maryland.  This image was shot just for the striking contrast of the docks reflection in the water – and not until I looked at the image after did I see a boat slowly cruising into the foggy bay.  Sometimes photography is magical that way.

Cornhill Street Squatters

I’m not sure what to say? I think they are beautiful and natural, but also wonder about my sanity?  Some dead, some alive, these ‘squatters’ were in the store front window of an Annapolis building being turned into a restaurant.  If its any consolation:  this building has been abandoned since 2007.

Stencil Graffiti On Historic Walls

I think a good way to start a chilly November is with a telling photograph.  Although there are many stencil graffiti pieces in Annapolis (most lurking down small alleyways – which I like to frequent – for that exact reason, and most don’t stick because the historic wall surfaces crumble from age and water damage) these two have never been painted over.

Creek Construction

While dining on the seasonal Vegetable and Mushroom Risotto in an acorn squash bowl, capped with a grilled portabello mushroom (great now I’m hungry again) today at Carrols’ Creek Cafe in Annapolis I was distracted by the interesting construction close by.  I can’t wait to see the finished result, and go back for more delicious food of course.

Peppers Split

Following the 5.8 magnitude earthquake last week Peppers, a local shop, split from the building next to it on main street, Annapolis.  According to Maryland’s Earthquake History on USGS the earliest recorded earthquake in Maryland occurred in Annapolis, on April 24, 1758 and lasted for 30 seconds.

Panoramas Round One

My first attempts at creating panoramas… clearly we see where this is headed:  into a spiral of creativity and photo safaris so we can make more!  If anyone has any tips on how to make these better please share.  One is a panorama of Horn Point Marina in Annapolis, MD the other is a sweeping view of Cape Sante Boat Haven in Anacortes, WA.

Chef’s By The Bay 2011

A few shots from Chef’s By The Bay 2011 held by the Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. Blue Crab Yo-Yo Photography was a proud sponsor of the event along with:  Air Tran, Annapolis Booth Photo, Barefoot Wine, Chambord Vodka, and Jet Blue.  Thanks to Anne for the recommendation, and a big thank you to all the members, chefs, and band Sweet Leda:  everything was lovely.

Reynolds Family Part Deux

We’re back this year with the ever-so-lovely Reynolds Family.  Photo shoot was in Historic Downtown Annapolis, Maryland on a beautiful sunny day.  I loved to see how everyone has grown over the past year (you too Carrie & Matt!)  Although there were many color photos taken the black & white images really captured some special moments.

Rams Head Tavern Staff Beer Selection

I had a contest to see who had “The Best Beer Selection in Annapolis” and Rams Head Tavern won by a landslide.  Liz Arnold’s pick is Strongbow England’s Dry Cider, John Faviszewski’s pick is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Jamie Hardy’s pick is Wild Blue Blueberry Lager, Danielle Loustette’s pick is Sierra Navada Pale Ale, Angela Taylor’s pick is Sol and Justin Chaplin’s pick is Anchor Steam Beer (pictured below).  Rams Head Tavern has a HUGE selection of worldly beer for you to choose from.  Thanks to everyone there who participated and congratulations!

Annapolis Flooded

Tropical Storm Nicole floods downtown Annapolis on the last day of September 2010.  Black & White images were shot from the Eastport Bridge, Compromise Street, Dock Street and the City Docks.

Seed Pods

Not quite sure of the tree these delicate seed pods fell off of.  Collected in Annapolis, Maryland on the last day of July.
