White Asparagus

White asparagus is deprived of light while growing so it cannot turn green.  The cooking directions say to peel the asparagus before cooking – I choose to use my extra time photographing instead of peeling… sorry chefs.

German has one of the best ways to cook these, soft boil, butter sauce, and ham. The entire weeks (once a year end of May beginning of June), lots of pubs and restaurants have dedicated menu on white asparagus, known as spargel. Great picture.

    Hi Ann,

Butter sauce sounds delicious… I will try that and look up spargel. Thanks!
